Zainal: More than 700 submissions from 49 countries around the world, and closing date on June 30.
Bahrain International Film Festival’s sixth edition, organized by the Bahrain Cinema Club, will take place from November 5 to 10, 2026, revealed the festival’s Artistic Director Ammar Zainal. This edition marks a new step that reflects the festival’s growth and its expanding presence at both the regional and international levels.
Zainal explained that the sixth edition will witness a substantial shift in the festival’s competition, as the festival moves from regional to international. He confirms that “the festival has so far received more than 700 submissions from 49 countries around the world, reflecting the growing status that BIFF has attained within international cinematic circles.”
Filmmakers are invited to submit their films before the closing date on June 30, says Zainal. He encourages Bahraini and international filmmakers to participate and leverage the cultural and creative exchange opportunities that the festival offers.
“The sixth edition will feature a diverse range of training sessions, workshops, seminars, and accompanying programs aimed primarily at supporting and encouraging Bahraini filmmakers,” says Zainal. More details on these activities will be announced soon.
He also noted that the sixth edition is expected to witness a distinguished and remarkable attendance by stars and filmmakers from inside and outside Bahrain, further strengthening the position of BIFF as a cinematic and cultural platform that brings together diverse experiences and expertise.
“The international direction of the new edition stems from a vision aimed at advancing the Bahraini film industry and bringing the Bahraini cinematic voice to the world by creating spaces for interaction and collaboration with diverse cinematic experiences from different countries,” explained Zainal.
He added that BIFF is working on building regional and international partnerships that contribute to achieving the festival’s goals and expanding its presence, which opens broader horizons for Bahraini filmmakers and gives them more opportunities for growth and wider recognition.
Zainal pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has consistently succeeded in conveying messages of peace and openness to the world, affirming that BIFF represents part of this cultural and civilizational framework that reflects Bahrain’s image as a hub for creativity and cultural diversity.
He finally stressed that the film industry represents one of the most important pillars of the creative economy, and encouraging Bahraini youth to enter and professionally pursue careers in this industry is among the festival’s main objectives across its successive editions. This is achieved through providing platforms for learning, development, and showcasing diverse cinematic experiences.

كشف المدير الفني لمهرجان البحرين السينمائي الدولي عمار زينل عن موعد إقامة الدورة السادسة من المهرجان الذي ينظمه نادي البحرين للسينما، والتي ستقام خلال الفترة من 5 إلى 10 نوفمبر 2026، في خطوة جديدة تعكس تطور المهرجان واتساع حضوره على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي.
وأوضح زينل أن الدورة السادسة ستشهد تحولاً نوعياً في مسابقة المهرجان، حيث ستكون المسابقة هذا العام دولية، مؤكداً أن المهرجان تلقى حتى الآن أكثر من 700 مشاركة من 49 دولة حول العالم، الأمر الذي يعكس المكانة المتنامية التي بات يحظى بها مهرجان البحرين السينمائي في الأوساط السينمائية الدولية.
وأشار زينل إلى أن باب تلقي المشاركات سيغلق بتاريخ 30 يونيو القادم، داعياً صناع الأفلام في البحرين والعالم إلى المبادرة بالتسجيل والاستفادة من الفرص التي يوفرها المهرجان للتبادل الثقافي والإبداعي.
وأكد زينل أن الدورة السادسة ستضم باقة متنوعة من الورش التدريبية والندوات والبرامج المصاحبة التي تستهدف دعم وتشجيع صناع الأفلام البحرينيين بالدرجة الأولى، لافتاً إلى أنه سيتم الإعلان عن تفاصيل هذه البرامج خلال الفترة المقبلة.
كما أشار إلى أنه من المتوقع أن تشهد الدورة السادسة حضوراً نوعياً ولافتاً لنجوم الفن وصناع السينما من داخل البحرين وخارجها، بما يعزز من مكانة المهرجان كمنصة سينمائية وثقافية تجمع مختلف التجارب والخبرات.
وبيّن زينل أن التوجه الدولي للدورة الجديدة يأتي انطلاقاً من رؤية تهدف إلى الارتقاء بصناعة الفيلم البحريني، وإيصال الصوت السينمائي البحريني إلى العالم، من خلال خلق مساحات للتفاعل والتعاون مع تجارب سينمائية متنوعة من مختلف الدول.
وأضاف أن المهرجان يعمل على بناء شراكات إقليمية ودولية تحقق أهدافه وتسهم في توسعة وتعزيز حضوره، بما يفتح آفاقاً أوسع أمام صناع الأفلام البحرينيين ويمنحهم فرصاً أكبر للتطوير والانتشار.
وأشار زينل إلى أن مملكة البحرين نجحت على الدوام في إيصال رسائل السلام والانفتاح إلى العالم، مؤكداً أن مهرجان البحرين السينمائي يمثل جزءاً من هذه المنظومة الثقافية والحضارية التي تعكس صورة البحرين كحاضنة للإبداع والتنوع الثقافي.
كما شدد على أن صناعة السينما تمثل أحد أهم روافد الاقتصاد الإبداعي، وأن تشجيع الشباب البحريني على دخول مجالات هذه الصناعة واحترافها يعد من الأهداف الأساسية التي يسعى المهرجان إلى تحقيقها عبر دوراته المتعاقبة، من خلال توفير منصات للتعلم والتطوير وعرض التجارب السينمائية المختلفة.
