Director Bio: Islam Kamal was born in Alexandria 1978, and graduated from Fine Arts (Alexandria University) in 2001. Aside from self-studying aesthetics, philosophy and arts, he studied cinematography at CERMED. Since 2004 he has been working as DOP, editor and director. Islam co-founded Fig Leaf Studios in 2005. In 2016, he co- founded the documentary film program CINEDELTA to support young film-makers from Alexandria and the Delta. Islam is interested in enriching the independent filmmaking scene and bridging gaps in expertise, for example as a teacher and director of the Jesuit Film School.
